FBI-UCU

Discussion of the Crimes People Play tabletop roleplaying game.

FBI-UCU

Postby Kennin on Wed Aug 26, 2009 11:48 pm

A while ago, I started a forum RPG (in the Dutch language, alas), with the promising title "FBI-UCU", whereas UCU stands for "Unsolved Crime Unit".

The catch with this campaign, is that things aren't the way they seem at first. The players don't know it yet, but they are part of an X-Files like department.
Or... two out of four don't know. One other is a vampire, sent along to make sure that other vampires don't jump out of line, AND to make sure to cover up all possible evidence of supernatural occurrencies.
The other one is a mage... a real one. He is sent along to keep an eye on the blood sucker. The vampire isn't aware of this, though.

Nooooow...
All of this is fun in a forum RPG, but I decided to take this game to the table. I think it's a great setting to be playing in.

The game feeling shall be a mixture of X-Files, Supernatural, Angel, Call of Cthulu, Vampire and Mage... and perhaps some other things in that direction.
Now I was looking for a free RPG rules set that could apply to this background, and I think that I found it with your "Crimes People Play".

As soon as I tried it out, I will post my experiences here... if I don't forget.
If you like me to, that is.

Please post your experiences with the system. My next project is to overhaul Crimes People Play, and your feedback would be a great help.

You might also want to look at www.dread-rpg.com/

The complete players section of the rules is available at http://www.neoplasticpress.com/dread-player-section.pdf

There's also a nifty demon generator at http://www.neoplasticpress.com/demoncreator.html

I haven't played the game or read all the rules, but the "agents fighting the supernatural" theme fit what you were doing.

Will the players running mundane characters feel cheated when they learn that there is a mage and a vampire in their midst? Won't they also want to play something more powerful?
